Tropical Helicopter features one-on-one training for professional and recreational pilots alike. With three Hughes 300C helicopters, a 6,400 sq. ft. hanger and a large classroom, Tropical Helicopter is the perfect place to train for your Private, Instrument or Commercial helicopter rating.
Located on the grounds of the Leesburg International Airport, Tropical Helicopter provides its students with an ideal flight environment. The weather in Leesburg allows more than 300 days of flying per year and the low volume of air traffic at the airport affords a better learning environment for communications and operations.
The location also provides a large variety of challenging and adventurous training areas with an abundance of wildlife including hawks, eagles, black bears and alligators.

Our staff of pilots and instructors are select members of a team of professionals. Unlike some training centers, our flight instructors are not here just to build time. Each one is dedicated to the instructional aspect of helicopter flight and maintains flight status as a professional pilot.

Adam's interest in aviation started at the age of 16 when he took his first flight lesson in an airplane. It wasn't until his time in the US Coast Guard that he gained a strong interest in helicopters. Adam graduated from Helicopter Adventures (Bristow Academy) and holds a Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor License. Adam has been with Tropical Helicopters since 2004 and purchased the business in May of 2007. He says that flying every day and helping other people achieve their goals for flight is a dream come true.

Ken is retired from the US Air Force and holds a Private Pilot Helicopter rating. Ken brings a wealth of experience and keeps the office side of our business running smooth.
Russell Brown, Staff Pilot/A&P Mechanic Russell@TropicalHelicopter.com
Russ holds a Commercial Helicopter Rating as well as an Airframe & Powerplant License and works performing various commercial operations such as aerial photography, powerlines and survey work. However, Russ' primary job is maintaining our fleet of helicopters. In addition to Russ's passion for helicopters he is an owner of Quest Air Soaring Center which holds one of the largest hang gliding competitions in the world each year. He is accomplished in this sport.

Jim works part time for Tropical as a Flight Instructor and also manages our Safety Program . When not at Tropical, Jim works for Orange County as a Fire Fighter and Paramedic.

Sal Fragoso is the newest member of the tropical team having completed training through CFII at Bristow academy in 2008 and has lived in Orlando since 1994. Having trained and instructed the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira for over 13 years, he brings with him the understanding of the amount of focus and dedication required for success. In addition to martial arts, Sal is a sophomore in college working towards a B.A. in Aviation . Sal has always believed in the individuals ability to accomplish whatever they can dream of and hopes helicopters and aviation can help others reach their dreams the way they have for him

Ringo, GreeterRingo works part time for Tropical as the official greeter. Ringo is originally from Sarasota FL and holds numerous ribbons from his dog showing days. He brings 4 years of experience in greeting people and dogs. If he gets to know you he will greet you with a big smile showing his pearly whites while wagging his tail. His other hobbies include sun bathing and begging for food.
